Grilled fish is a typical Portuguese dish and is very popular in Malacca. They are also known as “ïkan bakar or ikan panggang” to most Malaccan. This must-try baked fish, is placed in an aluminium foil with banana leaf and liberally doused with mouth-watering “assam pedas” gravy and later topped with kaffir lime leaves before it is wrapped like a pillow and baked. This results in a moist, aromatic, spicy, and full of flavour dish that’s best eaten with rice or plain bread, or even on its own.
